Had a really good look through the forums and got some great information but thought it might be best to ask a direct question about my specific project. On the finishing parts of a summerhouse project, floor area is about 12m2, the summerhouse was built on a concrete pad, then has 2x2 batons filled with Celotex insulation and then 22mm chipboard on top. It is totally flat and level, no creaks or flexing. Missus wants LVT so we've settled on a stick down type from Polyflor. I've had a stack of 6mm flooring ply delivered from our local timber yard and I'm going to screw it down this weekend, 4 x 20mm screws at the spacing that Polyflor suggest (plus some more for good measure if it needs it) Polyflor recommend a 1mm gap between the boards which should then be filled, as well as filling the screw holes. I went down to CTD Tiles and looked at their Ardex range, ended yp buying Arditex NA (bottle and bag) but now I'm worried I've bought the wrong product because ideally I don't want to cover the whole floor with a 3mm layer. I have a feeling I should have got the Feather Finish but can I just use this to fill the cracks and holes then sand it back to level of the ply? Cheers, James
You want feather instead, NA is to 'loose' to use as a feather but you could just scratch coat it over the entire plywood or just flow it with a normal coat. Is 3mm really going to make a difference??
Still need to keep the area perfect conditions for 2-3 days. And acclimatise everything going in there. Bit more to it than just using epoxy or silane adhesive. Plastic is super sensitive and so is the plywood Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Couldn’t agree more! Temp needs to be stable for 48 hours before you install, throughout and for 48 hrs after so the glue can cure. Keep the sun out!!!
Thanks for all the replies Gents, had a change of mind. Spent yesterday putting the 6mm ply down, ended up using around 200 screws per sheet of ply which seems excesive but looks the part. Went down to a local LVT supplier in Oxford and had a chat with one of the guys down there. He said if I was going for a traditional glue down type of LVT like Polyflor Camero then its not a DIY job as there are too many variables (adhesive, conditioning etc). He was heavily pushing Polyflor Expona Simplay as a DIY solution, whilst technically loose lay he recommended using some tacky adhesive to hold the tiles down. Is this stuff as good as he says it is? And is it really a DIY job?
