Looking to get myself a welder soon. Seen cheap versions(knock offs) of the leister and was wondering if anyone has any experience with them and if they are inferior as the price suggests. I probably will go for the leister but saving £300 is pretty tempting also. Thanks

Mate of mine tried one of them leister cheapy looky-likeys and was fine for the first couple months then the heat started to fluctuate to often whilst using it so binned it. Think he paid £130 for it. May aswell go with a good brand

Is it worth the hassle of it possibly packing up part way through a job

Yeah true. Made the same mistake with a few tools ie mixers, staple guns and now realise the importance of confidence in my tools but still find some cheaper options are as good if not better than the expensive ones. I'll go for a leister or steinel for sure though

The more expensive tools tend to be of much higher quality and last alot longer than cheaper alternatives They actually save you money in the long run Its always worth investing in quality imo

Seen alot of fitters use unknown welder brands on site and normally you can see the effect on the externals. I'd always buy Leister.

Spot on. Buy good tools, they are there to make your life easier. Ill buy something and may not use it for months.. but the day will come when it saves you a ton of time and gets you out of trouble
