Of its clic and you have daylight in the room you have the wrong product. It’s not suitable for floors where natural light touch it. It’s

I thought it was click  so the builder came and 'ragged' a piece out and tried to put it back in which didn't quite work out. Taking a piece out like he did has just added to your issues

There’s only A few harvey Maria retailers across the whole of Cambridgeshire, I actually agree with floorever now I know the above, option 1 seems overkill unless there’s more to it that we can’t see.

I went back to Fitter 1 to ask why they recommended that approach, and they said that they think the subfloor is a "calcium sulphate or anhydrite screed", and came to the conclusion that, that approach would work better.

If its chip board that has been screeded over, do you all think the cheaper ply installation of Fitter 2 would be better? Should they also use smoothing compound over the ply?

I went back to Fitter 1 to ask about why they recommended that approach, and they said that the subfloor is "calcium sulphate or anhydrite screed", but i think they only inspected the subfloor under the first picture i sent (with the tiles pulled), because looking under the kitchen cabinets it does seem to be chipboard that is screeded over (as spacey mentioned below).

So given that subfloor, maybe Fitter 2 would be better?

Is it necessary to use additional smoothing compound over plywood base?

    If it’s all chipboard -

    sp101 plywood or FG1 then

feather finish screed or a fibre screed with primer.
