Hi I’ve moved into a house removed the carpet I want to lay wood floor in my living room it is quite big I think it was 3 small rooms Originaly now one Room. it has an uneven concrete slab then wood floor in the middle then Another concrete slab I understand that I have to dpm the concrete Ideally I would dpm this then self level it but that would make the wood floor too low not sure what to do for the best and economical solution I was not expecting the floor to be like this

Is the wood in the middle of the floor planks or blocks?

Looks like floorboards so ply over it. Over lap the concrete with the ply (after the dpm)

If uneven and rough do a 3mm coat of smoothing compound 1st then a Dpm.

hi dazlight if i put dmp on the compound it remains tacky (ive used it before) unless you know one that doesnt. i was going to use the silver acoustic 3mm underlay but it will stick to the dmp.

What wood are you putting down? Solid, engineered or laminate?

Engineering it’s quite expensive so I don’t want to get this wrong

Could use 1200 so no need for ply. Sandwich dpm i think be best. End product matters

T&G or click system? If it’s T&G don’t float on an underlay and you’ll need a higher compression strength screed.

looks like floorboards half of it. ply>feather that half and dpm 1200 if moisture issue. Id latex over the ply also but alot would only goto ply.
