    Hello everyone

I’ve came here for some advice and then potentially quotes if anyone is local.

I went for a walk around the flooring shops and really liked karndean parquet flooring Art Deco I think it was.
It was much nicer than some other parquet LVT I had seen as it seemed very textured and all the edges had a distinct bevel giving the whole floor real depth.
The problem is that it’s about £60 per square metre and then another £40 for fitting here in Teesside as it requires a Karndean fitter.....

I was wondering if there is another Parquet LVT that looks really good like this stuff but is more affordable and cheaper to lay?

I’ve had a quote for the full 77m downstairs in solid oak 22mm parquet for 5k fully finished but I’m worried about water damage from my 3 young children especially in the kitchen so I was leaning towards LVT and thought it would be cheaper not more expensive :(

    thanks

That’s really cheap for solid wood if you ask me.

    LVTs look at

harvey Maria , Moduleo & project floors

Was thinking the same thing, by the time they've paid out for floor prep, wood, adhesive, sanding and finishing materials, they'd probably be lucky to make £20sqm labour

    Really
Maybe I should be more specific with the wood quote

Blocks are 300x70x20 solid oak t and g (I said 22 earlier, my mistake)
    Blocks are 60/40 prime rustic
And from the quote it seems to be a thorough finish
With sanding, epoxy and sawdust mix, re sand at multiple grits then primer then sand at higher grit and then 2 coats if commercial grade laquer
    (I’ve summarised that)

If that is such a good quote maybe I should consider that and tile the kitchen separately

What prep work do they need to do for the wood? £5k isn’t realistic it’s less than half of what a mid quality solid herringbone with prep (on concrete) would cost, LVT 99% of the time would work out cheaper
