Hello I'm hoping someone might be able to share some of their knowledge! We're going round in circles. We're knocking through from our kitchen to dining room and have uncovered the original quarry tiles laid on ash/earth, so no dpm. We've had varied advice ranging from digging out the floor to primer/screed and just flooring straight on top. Some people have said they don't want the job unless the floor is dug out. My questions are 1 could we put down f-ball stopgap isolator directly onto the quarry tiles then whichever flooring we choose on top? Will that cause any damp to migrate into the walls? 2 If we go down the "breathable" road could we lay a breathable floor (limestone tiles or stone tiles) on top of the quarry tiles? My thinking is if a breathable compound (or whatever it's called) is used, then all layers of the floor be able to breath? We're in Nantwich, Cheshire if anyone can make any recommendations. Thank you.
The best way is uplift and start again with a new subfloor but if not and the tiles are bonded well you could go ardex NA Ardex DPM1c Ardex NA
