Herringbone Design

Good Morning Guys

We are involved in a fairly large Amtico Spacia installation , where the client want a herringbone design, its 1 area over 100m2 .
We are having major issues with gaps appearing after installing approx 8 rows .

Any suggestions , this is not the first tie we have experienced this

 

Gaps on the headers?
Or the next row isn't lining up?

How have you set it out? (Start line)
Are these the 3 x 9inch planks?


First thing I'd do is check the tiles to see if they are all cut the same size....might sound daft but I've had a luvanto turn up before that I had to send back due to random planks being 1-2mm difference, had a similar issue with amtico but it was 1 same box.

 

Its the rows
They are long planks 1.2 m
I believe it is down to slight variation in plank size

 

Check the angles with a laser. Measure the planks you’ve laid. If they are different sizes you should ask for a new batch

They can’t be exact which is no surprise. If any planks bowed it will throw it out as well

 

How big are the gaps?

 

Thank you Gentlemen , it would appear that the planks are slightly different sizes , so the client has now decided to install them at 45 Degrees .

Had it before at S. Petherton. first batch rejected, second fitted on 45. Amtico spacia also

 

I believe you get gaps if the floor isn't perfectly level. To the point I prefer to latex over ply to help ensure a level surface.
