    Hi

I'm interest in buying some carpet for my stairs.

I like the 'Hollywood' style or American fit on the stairs. When the guy came to measure and price up today I asked him about this and he said that style would be an extra £30 per stair. So nearly £400 more. Am I correct in thinking this is a bit excessive? This was from John Lewis.

I tried to see how much Carpet Right or any other brand of carpet would charge for the this service, but nothing seemed to come up on there website about different fits of stair carpets. Would anyone know how much they could charge?

I know there is Hollywood v Waterfall.

    thanks for any thoughts

Sounds excessive, I would be half that at most

Go to a good local shop and ask there. Check out the NICF website for fitters local to you

I’ve worked for John Lewis and carpetright (both a few years ago). They don’t have set charges for things like that (or didn’t anyway) so the estimator basically makes it up themselves or calls the fitter who dictates the rate.

As mentioned you’re better finding a good local company.

Sounds like it's a job they didn't want to do or can't so whacked the price up. It takes a lot more time then a standard staircase but someone would be mad to pay that. I've just done a boat and charged less! Lol.
