Hi everyone, I had my carpets fitted recently and in general it's good but I am not convinced about the fitting around the edges on the stairs. The carpet is a flat weave by Fibre flooring and it quite stiff and not very flexible, so I can understand it would be hard to bend - definitely harder to bend then a loop carpet. The fitter seems to have fitted it well around the edges on the landing, but the sides of the stairs feel loose and are cut to size rather than tucking in. Does anyone know if this looks wrong and has been cut too small for the width of the stairs? Is there anything that can be done to fix it?
It’s been cut down the edge of the weave to try prevent it from fraying. Could be cut slightly bigger and curled in, it’s not the worst I’ve seen. I tend to try cut it slightly bigger and curl it in but depends on how tough it is.
The cutting in is fine. It’s just a little too full and is making the riser ripple. It either needs to be crimped on the sides or a slight trim on the side. The tred may be slightly wider than the riser Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The landing is tucked as there is gripper. You don’t really use gripper on steps and it’s common practise to cut it net. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
