I am almost finished with the repair of some badly fitted Amtico.

I have replaced tiles so that they now sit under the skirting and I have undercut the architrave to achieve a neat finish.

What should I use to fill the gap between the bottom of the skirting board and Amtico as well as the gap between the bottom of the architrave and Amtico ?
    • clear silicone (this is what I had originally planned to use) ?
    • white silicone ?
    • white caulk ?
I will use caulk to fill the gap between the top of the skirting board and the wall.

For the history of this repair work, refer to the link below of a post I placed:

FYI: this is how the original fitting looked - the tiles did not go up to the skirting, the fitters left a gap between the tiles and skirting and filled the gap with white silicone that had aged and looked a mess:

Personally, i'd probably go for a minimal amount of clear silicone, caulk would follow the contour of the textured finish, so probably wouldn't leave you with a perfectly straight line

If it bothers you then yes a smallest bead of clear with the tool.

Should I not bother with any silicone between the bottom of the skirting and the floor then ?

I was just thinking that when I come to mop the floor (with Amtico cleaner), is there a risk that the solution could get in between the gap and cause the mdf skirting to swell or create dampness ?
