Best advice is don’t until you know how to find the work yourself.

I’m not trying to be funny but if you’re going self employed and not subbing to shops you need to understand marketing, sales, bookkeeping and more before you even fit a floor…

Depends what you really mean. Are you looking to take on your own supply & fit work, or just subbie ? or a mixture of both ?

Mixture of both mate. Probably start off subbie to shops/building& interior firms etc. Just want to have the work in place before making the jump.

If you're not working more than 5 or 6 days a week at the moment, you could always try things like a Facebook page, to generate a bit of work on your normal days off, those jobs will normally get you recommendations, once you start getting a regular amount, you could subby for a shop a few days a week, whilst still growing your own side

Thankyou buddy. Would you advice just giving shops a phone call or email asking if that have work for subbies?

Are you looking for domestic work or commercial work, or both ?

I started by fitting on my days off for about a year then when I had done some work for one of the shops I was offered regular days with them.
Then I made the leap of being self employed and never looked back.
Best advice I can give though is don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Try and get in with 2 shops so if work drys up with one you’re not left with nothing at all.
It takes time to build up a reputation and the most important thing when you start out is quality over quantity.
