I'm putting down 6mm acoustic rubber mat over concrete floor in a rental flat. Carpet choice is Regency Chiltern Highlight, 9.5mm thick, 7mm pile height.

I was thinking 11mm or 12mm underlay for the best possible sound deadening ability but was told it's too think for the carpet choice. Is Cloud 9 connoisseur 10mm or Tredaire Hallmark 9.5mm more suitable? (if not, can you please suggest one?)

Also, 6mm plywood will need to be laid onto concrete to receive carpet grippers. I'd like to do it the least noisy way if possible, wondering if gluing the ply down instead of screwing it down would be alright? What adhesive is best?

    Thanks.

Is there any other reason for plying the floor? As you can just glue the gripper direct to the concrete

Surely you would have to stick the gripper to the acoustic matt or it’s pointless?

Why all you’ll do is help cut the high and high mid frequencies which aren’t the problem areas for noise transfer, the low and low mids are what need to be kept in check and for that you need mass a lot of it and to decouple from the subfloor and walls.

Sorry, i missed the acoustic mat bit.
Maybe you could just use a crumb rubber underlay and double stick it
