Hi All I'm well aware there is a general shortage of fitters around at the moment but I'm getting quoted best part of £450-500 a day for guys at the moment! Am I that far in the dark ages thinking that £300 a day is good money for a subbie?
Seriously, there must be a real shortage of guys at the moment. Ive taken loads of calls about labour only works. Ive not been offered £500 a day though. Except on the weekend.
Depends on the area your asking to be fitted? dont see anything wrong with getting 40m2 of lvt on the floor in a day and earning upwards of £400? are you a developer or flooring shop?
I'm just a flooring contractor. I have no problem with people earning that either and happy for people to earn as much as they can. I already pay 12-15m2 for LVT in shops which are over 60m2 in size and still getting no interest or asked for more money.
£300 a day for one man and you can't get no fitters? Got to be joking I don't care if your London £300 dayrate is good monies labour only I will send you 3 fitters ASAP,
I've been on site with Lithuanian guys earning £80 a day subbing to massive company's working on that battersea powers station few years ago. Just show all the bollox about slave labour they have in their contracts don't mean a thing
this was our advert a few weeks back feel free to get in touch! Guildford based company looking for floor layers to help out. Work is Surrey/ Hampshire and south east. Would suit people both looking to fill their spare days or someone looking for full time work. Usually daywork did to nature of works (around £250-£300 a day) but price work if preferred. Call/ Text Tom 07850035221 if interested.
I know, firms win the job but havnt got fitters on the books or fitters to sub work out to so use agency. Had a firm ring up £1.50m2 carpet tile but each room 20m2 less 2 doorways loads of cuts, Guy told me he had a group of Romanians working on last job for him that smashed them down
Thats all ok, until the work get condemned, the firm gets knocked, and the guys turn up outside the house with torches demanding there monies. I know of a hospital site with lino going down. They did something similar, and most of what was fitted, came back up.
Been subbing to the same place for the last 6 years on price, usually earn 400ish and finish around 1 or 2, £300id be done by 11 or so. £300 for a full day i wouldnt be happy coming in for, vans and fuel and travel arent free and are still time consuming. A full day of work id clear £750 thats 7.30 to 5.30 of work
Thats very good money I would say. I do a fair bit of new build and don`t get near that, but then I am an old git now. Long gone are the days where I would complete a 4 bed house on my own, in a day. To be fair even my lads don`t get near that money and there pretty quick. Is that on carpets or a mix of everything ?
£300 plus a day and I do pay travel on top of this and if blokes can do enough in a day to earn more then I'm all for it but you saying £750 a day! Sorry but I'm calling bullshit on this
Ha, funny replies. New build normally pays about £5 for carpet. That`s 150 sq m a day, so a fair size 4 bed house probably. I have done that in a day on my own, but not anymore, and not day in, day out. Much more achievable with a competent apprentice though. I know a lot of guys on new build and no-one can clear that sort of dough consistently. Its nearly 200k a year.
