Hi there. We put down 15mm soundproofing mats (soundmat 3 from the soundproofing store) on top of 9mm ply on top of the original floorboards in our apartment (not a particularly level flat as an old mansion black). Our builders then fitted a Creation Clic 30 Gerflor LVT planks floor on top (with no ply underneath). We did this because it worked for our neighbors (but turns out it was with a Rigid lock Gerflor system 55). However, it hasn't worked for us as the substrate is not hard enough so the planks are clicking in and out and heavy furniture dips into it. It's just too spongy and bouncy We have now seen plenty of flooring experts but nobody seems keen to fit an LVT floor on top of this soundproofing mat (which is an expensive product). Some have mentioned potentially taking out the ply underneath, gluing 9MM on top of the soundproofing mats and then getting the glue down version of the floor to go on top of the ply - but none feel totally confident with the solution. Most seem to think the existing clic system won't go back down well due to broken header and side joints, even tho Gerflor said we could stick it down (on the phone, not in writing). Has anyone had experience of this? Any advice? I wish I had worked with a flooring specialist in the very beginning! Lesson learned!
Thanks for your reply! Due to our lease, hard floor are forbidden, so laminate isn't really an option. These soundproofing mats we have already installed are a much thicker, heavier duty soundproofing (but therefore much bouncier and springy). Do you think glue down Lvt would go down well on top of ply on top of the existing soundproofing mats we've invested in? Have you seen this done before?
I’ve not seen that done over 15mm sound boards Jumpax would work though straight over the sound boards
