    Hi Flooring Fans,

I'm looking for a little advice if you don't mind.

I have a customer who is in a wheelchair and currently has Laminate floor down. Underneath this he has an electric underfloor heating matt system (https://www.carbonfilmheating.co.uk/) and overlaid with Unifloor Heat Pak Fast track overlay system (https://www.unifloor-underlay.com/products/het-pak-fra.html).
Customer wants us to uplift the laminate and fit an Amtico floor.

What would the best suggested surface prep for this be? I don't know the condition of the heat Pak floor as the laminate is down and is a couple of years old. We had a fitter who wanted to go over it with a flexible smoothing compound but this is not suitable as the moisture will affect the MDF boards. I was thinking lift the laminate back to the Heat Pak and then go over this with something like Jumpax then fit Amtico Stick down product. How would this affect the efficiency of the UFH?

Any advice on what you might do here would be handy.

    Thanks.

I’ve noticed jumpax products only give a 5 year guarantee so you will probably have to replace the heat pak. Would also need to check the moisture in the floor as laminate will hide a lot more than LVT

Take it all up and start again from the sub floor

Electric ufh only lasts 10 years anyway

Heat pak is just jumpax without the insulation on the bottom, i'd just replace it with the same, as it's specified for ufh, definitely wouldn't risk using the old stuff, because you know it will end up costing you, if it goes tits up
