Installers just put carpet on my stairway. They turned and tucked the ends, and stapled the heck out of it in the creases only. Everything I'm seeing indicates that they should have used tack strips and secured the ends on the treads. Did they install this wrong? Please help. I think this needs to be fixed, but the installers say different. Go figure.

    You had underlay yes?
....and they've stapled the carpet on each step?

What type carpet have you had fitted?

Underlay - yes. They installed a rectangular piece of padding (I would say about 2 inches in from the ends of the carpet on the sides and about the same in from the riser and the lip) just in the "landing zone" and stapled it. They stapled each step in the crease and a few staples on the risers on each side, if that makes sense.. It is stain resistant nylon carpet from a big box store. They offered free installation. You get what you pay for, I think...

So let me get this right...

They stapled the underlay to the steps yes?

They cut it around 1 inch from each side of the step?

They then fitted the carpet and stapled it on each step?

Can you out some pictures up?

Yes, they stapled the underlay to the steps, and left probably a two inch border on each side, and front to back. Then they turned and tucked the carpet edges and stapled it down in the crease of each step and on each riser. They did not staple on the step other than in the crease area. Sorry for the the technical terms like "crease area"... :)

I resized pictures four times but can't seem to upload.
