So, I'm usually just "the bloke in the shop" and have been for a few years now.

My mum, from out of nowhere just dropped on me that she needs a carpet fitted in my sister's room before Monday as she has new furniture coming. Then was rather upset that I told her we were booked up until November at the earliest (and the fact she's off two counties over doesn't help either). So, to cut the story (but hopefully not the carpet) short, i've been guilt tripped into fitting it myself.

So, any tips at all? I've watched some Youtube videos and spoken to the fitters here (most have just made jokes and asked for photos of the ensuing disaster...) but yeah... Any input very much welcome!

I'm used to cutting carpet into plans throughout the day, just not laying it and using the kicker.

Apparently my minimum room rate is "some roast potatoes, chicken, veg, stuffing and gravy..."

It's my mum's cooking, so them not being burnt would be a miracle...

I have a fair bit of faith. I have this weird knack of walking into situations where I have no knowledge whatsoever and just winging it to the point of - for one such example - walking into a brewing job with no prior experience and accidentally making an award winning ale within the first two months... It's a curse: Jack of all trades, master of none...

I'm really really good at selling LVT & being able to identify carpets though... that's about it...

It's a bedroom, so probably plenty of furniture to hide any cock ups

He works in a shop, so he's probably got soft, girly hands, i reckon he'll be bleeding before he has even finished the gripper :D

I used to be a professional brewer, so my hands are a mess of callouses from burns and getting my hands crushed between kilderkins... So i'm not all soft and girly. Plus, we do all the plan cutting for the fitters off site (we make their lives too easy) so i'm used to handling the stuff.

Thankfully, gripper is already glued down as there is a de-commissioned UFH system underneath.

It's Furlong Dalesman (one of their roll-only twists on the thick blue felt - feels a bit like a satin touch Elegance).
