Hello there, I am a new member and have been trawling the forum for what makes a good LVT. We are buying a new build from Bellway which is due next year and looking to get an LVT floor installed throughout the house (except bathrooms). We have found a local fitter who is also familiar with the builds in the area and he suggested Malmo/Luvano or Amtico Spacia. My wife and I have been looking at samples from all three and so far the ones we love the most are the colours/samples from the Amtico Signature range. Here comes the crux though at around 70£ per m2 the signature is almost twice as pricey as the Spacia or the other LVTs we have seen. So here is my question if we do go for signature what exactly are we paying for? Here is what I have found so far as benefits but would be nice to hear from the pros how important is this. Amtico Signature benefits: -1mm wear layer -Massive amount of colours (I wonder why Spacia has only 1/3 of those...) -Pure PVC -Made actually in the UK (assuming better quality here) -I assume any protective layer besides more depth is better quality as well So is the above really worth another £30 per m2 on top which comes around total as £3800 extra expense to the Spacia or £4800 to the Malmo/Luvano for our house? For context, we have a dog, and my wife loves plants so there is a bit of water in our current accommodation which I think has laminated and I have seen some water damage bubbling the plank up between gaps (probably no good sealant was put). So I do really value durability I just wonder if the 1mm wear layer is really worth it or I am being charged mostly for wider colour range. Thanks for the help and any advice is appreciated.
Personally, i wouldn't be too concerned about the thickness of the wear layer, unless it's commercial use,you are unlikely to wear out a 0.5mm wear layer within 20years, as for scratches, a scratch starts at the top of the wear layer, so no matter how thick the wear layer is, you still have the scratch at the top. But that's just my personal opinion
Have a look at kahrs lvt. One of the best and nicest I've worked with Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk
Signature is the best, nothing wrong with spacia- have what your happy with, it will last for decades.
You pay for the choice in signature. Spacia almost Identical. Signature use to be a lot harder and probably wore much better but the gap has narrowed Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks all for the replies so is it safe to assume the primary benefit of amtico signature is choice. It seems for residential use the wear layer of 0.55 is enough and there is not much difference in terms of plank quality?
Signature is nice but well over priced The mentioned brands above will last you 20 + years when installed correctly I've just laid some karrs LVT and It's up there with the best in terms of quality and comes in some really nice colours
