Looking at the following carpets for my 4x7 living room: 1. SCS signature algarve country in oyster colour - £25.99 sqm 2. SCS signature lusitano rustic in alabaster colour £39.99 sqm these are wool loop carpets few questions 1. I’ve read it’s harder to remove stains from wool carpets, say I spilled red wine would I be screwed or would a professional cleaner get it out? 2. I’ve also read you have to be careful how you vaccum this type of carpet, I’ve a robot vaccum, would I need a specialist vaccum? 3. Would it be a good idea to shop around and see if any independent can get this same carpet cheaper. I’ve looked around and can’t find anything similar I liked. 4. I was going to buy underlay myself or via a local fitter, Is this better than the 11m for £14 a sqm that SCS want? thanks in advance
Question 1… yes wool tends to be more difficult to remove stains from as it’s an absorbent fibre, some will have enhanced stain protection and possibly will clean with a professional clean but may shrink. Question 2….. suction only vacuum is recommended so no beater bar Question 3…..yes shop around I’m sure there will be something similar if not the same with a bit of research. Question 4…… For £14m2 I’d want gold backed underlay, you will find they will offer free fitting and it’s in the price of the underlay. The last job I did my underlay similar to scs £14 was £6.99 don’t fall for it…. Go independent
You could have a look at the woolsafe website for cleaning advice, I've not looked at it properly, but from what I've seen, it could have some useful advice
