Hi all, Could you offer any advice please. I would like the above carpet ( Cable - Chrome ) on my stairs and landing. I would like the edges either whipped or with a binding in a dark grey. Is this possible / sensible / expensive - any words of wisdom much appreciated before decision made. Thank you.

Both possible, Taping is significantly more expensive than overwhipping the edges.

Thanks crazydaze. Also, sorry, another question. Westex - v - Telenzo. I can see Westex is considerably more expensive than most of the Telenzo range. Both offer 100% Wool - does anyone have any comments or things for me to consider when deciding on these two manufactuers please? :)

Both decent products although the quality of the Wool in Westex is a premium over many manufacturers. I would say that I would'nt call the Westex Naturals collection a particulary inspiring range, especially at that price point compared to other manufacrturers products but on the whole, premium range with - in my experience - not many production faults/issues other than pole marks can take a while to come out due to the premium, soft wool they use.

Thank you. The Westex is almost double per square metre compared with the Telenzo. Trouble is I've never heard of the Telenzo so was a bit skeptical that it could be a "cheap wool". I don't want to buy cheap and then have to get the Westex in two years. :). I am in South Yorkshire so am wondering if anyone here supplies the Westex at a decent price - its around £59 per sq mtr from John Lewis.

There's not much wrong with Telenzo, for the price it is it's decent value, but the quality of the Westex does shine through and the price reflects this. Although not uncompetitive per m2, JLP is probably just about the most expensive place to but flooring on the High Street, try the Westex website for local Independents and speak to them about putting together a premium specification for you, worth having a look at Ulster Carpets Open Spaces ranges too, another very nice product but about £15 cheaper than the Westex.

In my experience Westex customer service has been second to none and rarely have I had any issues with their carpets if that helps factor in on your purchasing decision. As was said go with a local independent shop usually they are priced more keenly than John Lewis and their ilk, we charge a fair bit less than JL on westex (sadly we’re not in your area).

Have a look on the NICF website for some good independent shops. There are a few in your area and they should be able to help.

Thank you so much for additional comments and advice. I have had some news that if I have the Westex,Cable on the stair runner, hollywood style where it's stapled under the bullnose, then the staples will be visible when you stand at the bottom of the stairs and look up. I didn't want to hear that. What's the opinion of you experts on the Forum please, do you agree or is there a way round this? I suppose I could go for a more mingled pattern and still have it fitted under the bullnose. I really do like the Westex cable chrome though. Not happy. ! :-(

Hi Simon, Could you give me a bit more of an idea of how the staples will work just fine, and is there a particular way to staple under the edge of the step to hide them. I might get my upholstery stapler out and try and staple the sample.:rolleyes::rolleyes: The Westex Cable Chrome (dark grey ) is the one I would like to have.

I like the way the looped yarn gives a little bit of a "striped" and textured effect. Any one else have words of wisdom for me please. It's a lot of money to spend on a carpet without full confidence it won't look pants. !!

Also found an alternative local retailer in S11 - near where I live but don't want to bother them yet.
