    Hi,
Wondering if anyone can help with a small dilemma. I’ve recently moved home m, new house has air bricks in floor as it is suspended. There are floorboards under the carpet. I want to rip up the carpet. I was originally going to keep the floorboards exposed until I realised the airbrick situation, which would render the house a freezer with no insulation from the carpet/underlay. Is it possible to lay down underlay on the floorboards and then lay new floorboards either parallel or perpendicular? I know easily could lay down laminate or hardwood but I like the rustic style of the floorboards.
    Thanks

You could ply it, then glue/nail new boards either direction or use bitumen paper and nail new boards the opposite direction. Underlay can only really be used with floating floors, so you could only use engineered wood or laminate

Yeah as above or uplift the floorboards, put insulation between the joists and relay.
New floor I’ve the top would probably be easier tho
