    Evening all

Anyone had experience with installing LVT (Amtico) over sound proofing cement boards?

it's a first floor flat. Laminate to be removed (water damaged) over chipboard. The customer wants 18mm sound proofing installed from the soundproofingstore.co.uk and suggests the company have said vinyl can be laid directly over the top ?!?!

Was happy to do this small kitchen on ply / latex but as a newbie to fitting would feel worried about doing this particular project !!

Any ideas ? Or anyone had some experience of similar jobs ?? Any advice would be really helpful

    Thanks
    Nick

Is it the 28mm boards (10mm wood fibre 18mm gypsum) ….. if it is then at the end of the day it’s a floating system and could see it being an issue……
I’d suggest maybe going down the regupol route

The 18mm system is basically 6mm cement board on 9mm foam and 3mm stabilising board……. That’s gonna flex like hell…… says ok for vinyl but no mention of lvt….
Just can’t see it giving a good surface finish without it showing through when it flexes

Thanks guys. Will call amtico technical Monday. Watched some of the sound proofing companies installation videos on YouTube. I'm not convinced it will work for LVT so will call.them too

    Thanks again. Nick

Wont work, too much flex in the boards, would need a fibre based screed over it the least if you want to put LVT on it

I wouldn,t want to fit amtico on a floor with movement in it.
