I've paid someone to fit laminate flooring for me. He says that he's used a glue gun to stick scotia beading to my laminate floor as well as sticking it to the skirting board. I don't have any knowledge about laminate flooring, but I've done a bit of research online, and noticed that some people say that sticking scotia beading to laminate with glue could cause the laminate floor to buckle or warp. Is this correct?

By gluing the scotia to the floor, it's made it pointless leaving the expansion gap that the scotia is only there to cover up, the floor has to be able to move freely in and out of the expansion gap that hopefully has been left. Was the fitter a joiner by any chance?

Yeah he’s messed up. That will stop the Laminate to expand.

It's also possible that it could pull apart, if it shrinks from the size it was when it was fitted

Thanks for your reply. I don't think he was a joiner. It was a flooring company that did the work, but they sent an apprentice, and he didn't receive any supervision while he was here.

He has effectively stopped the floor from expanding and contracting. Beading should only be fixed to the skirting board.
