This feels like placing an advert on a dating website !! But here goes.....

Having retired early from a career in the emergency services I also had a stint in property / estate agency

I am now keen to start a new career in fitting (ideally LVT). And as a 41 year old I do have a few years left in me yet, to work and learn something new

I recently did 3 day LVT course which I really liked. I have booked onto some FBall training and Instarmac. And I hope to book some training with Ardex and Mapei to increase my knowledge further

I am in South London. I do drive. And I am happy to travel

If you do know of anything please let me know. It would be really appreciated

    Thanks
    Nick

You need to book yourself on to some Floorskills courses. With LvT you need a lot of patience and attention to detail and if you want to be successful at you you will need a good knowledge on subfloor preparation and where it’s suitable to install.

I did a subfloor prep course (1 day) at floorskills a while ago. Just never took it further at the time, which was a shame. Was a decent day and learnt a fair bit. The 3 day I did ay MN Floortraining was a lot more hands on. Now practicing on friends and family's places. So far has been ok (and have all 10 digits still....#bonus)

Would you try laminate? Same again floorskills or fita courses and quickstep do a basic and master installer course.
Personally I think it's the fastest to learn, you still need the knowledge of subfloor preparation but its less complicated imo. Its not easy but you havnt got glues to consider, not as much preparation etc.
Daz knows a fella who worked in a shop until his 40's and after a few courses he's up there with the best fitters I know, always busy and on better money.
Obviously you need some sort of general hands on ability and again attention to detail aswel as the courses.
    Good luck.
