    Hi,

Recently had a stair runner fitted but need opinions from other carpet fitters as to the quality of the work.

The black stitching was not requested so unsure why this was done.

There are 2 half landings on our stairs, one of which the carpet was not tacked down at all so peels right up, the stitching looks as though it has been chewed by a dog and you can see the underlay due to the gap at either end of the carpet.

Is this the norm or was there a better way for this to be fitted?

    Any help appreciated, TIA.

    Thanks for your response!
I believe there was an apprentice helping lay the carpet, is that really any excuse for the poor quality? I appreciate everybody has to learn, but even the stitching to the side has not been done with care.
Would I be within my rights to complain?

Yes runners aint like fitting your usual waterfall fit and it looks like they don't have a clue.

The stitching would have been done by whoever they have to do the binding so they'll need to get you a new piece thats done properly.

You're in your rights to complain

Looks like someone's first attempt with a whipping machine, i can sort of see why they used black, as black cloth binding seems quite popular on stair runners, but they should have asked what you wanted first

That’s a shocker. I’m guessing the guy that whipped it also fitted it?
