Got a fair bit of this to lay throughout an upstairs of a mini mansion, average room lengths are 7m and most over 4m width so I'm extremely excited getting all this carpet up the maze of a staircase Looking for suggestions on what type underlay you would use? All bedrooms and one bedroom hallway - thought about cloud 9 contract 8mm but then I started thinking a decent crumb underlay??
Crumb felt combos are great. Think solent do one called Kensington? Use to use brinfelt or axfelt and Westex were making their own underlay so they may have some still? I always use cirrus. I love it lol
I havnt used cirrus for agggggeeesss because how expensive it went but suppose if I've spec'd contract 8 then I could take that into consideration. What differences are we taking when it comes to these crumb felt types against the usual jade9mm/connoisseur?
It's worth checking over the foam underlays as you're fitting them, getting a few with large hard chunks in them, which you can feel through the carpet, had it with cloud9 and floorwise so far and it's a pain in the arse when you've already fitted the carpet and the the furniture is back in
I’d probably go for a felt/crumb underlay on something like that. But in fairness my usual premium underlay is Caviar and Crystal 9mm and that would be fine I’m sure.
Felt crumb combo is called AXFELT, or for just crumb use duralay 650 or treadmores version. We are installing a westex velvet in a Chapel and will be using the 650 option
