Hi, I hope everyone is having a great day.

I'm looking for some advice, we've recently purchased a newly built property and decided to get the flooring outside of the developer and have purchased Firmfit Rigid Core SPC flooring.

The site agent mentioned that we should get DPM installed below the flooring, but after speaking to several others, they seemed quite shocked when we mentioned this to them. I've taken some moisture readings and they are between 11% - 14%. Looking online it says that the average house should be between 7% - 9% but there is no need for concern for anything under 15%.

A few things that I thought might be helpful

    1. We've had 3 dehumidifiers running for the last couple of months but the meter readings haven't improved
    2. I've read that you shouldn't install DPM under SPC flooring as it can affect how it clicks together
    3. The Concrete slab will have been placed in January so it's had about 8 months to dry out

It would be helpful if someone could provide some advice on whether we should get DPM installed

    Thanks in advance.

    Ryan

11% - 14% of what. Never heard of that measurement. What damp meter are you using. The sub floor needs to be under 75% Relative humidity

the slab should be fine to lay over at 8 months old

Find our from the builders if the slab is an Anhdrite or Calcium Suplphate screed and if it is, has it had the latence ground off it.

If it is the above type of screed and the latence hasn't been ground off, the screed won't be dry and will only start drying when the latence is taken off. Also, it will need moisture testing with a hygrometer.
