    Another DIY’er question….

I bought a Janser 24 grit grinding stone as an instructional vid stated I needed one to smooth ardex feather edge one its dry (didnt show it used).
Problem is it seems to score badly the already relatively smooth surface of the Ardex and the ply. I think sand paper would be better.

When and how would you use this grinding stone ?

Only time I get scoring with one is when the material isn't dry enough? Sometimes you can have clumps stuck to the bottom too. I used to give mine a sand before starting.

Thanks for the reply. I shall use it on a piece of sandpaper for a while to see if that makes a difference

Use this for taking ‘snots’ in any smoothing compounds and also for removing plaster from subfloor. Have used it on ply but not being too harsh on it.

I use an orbital sander with some 40 grit sander over feather, not that it needs much work just a quick blast over

Just to add I only use my sanding stone after smoothing compound to take out any little lumps
