Does Mapei Renovation need sanding prior to Amtico?

After loads of advice on here, I’ve got a large pour done - 100+m2. Did in two pours as advised with spiked shoes. Got it really flat and smooth, but conflicting advice on if it needs sanding at all prior to laying signature Amtico? Seems silly to as it’s really flat with almost no lumps. Does HT adhesive need a key to ensure taking to the screed? Or any primer?

    Cheers Tom

I never bother sanding mine if it don't need it. I do know fitters that do it everytime but I've had no issues in the 20+ years

If it’s dusty then prime it

It actually is a little dusty. Like a very light laitance. Vac won’t shift it, but rubbing with a dry cloth does. If I went down that route which primer would you recommend.

I’ve actually got eco prim T left over from the in between screed pours. Diluted 50/50 and left to dry before fitting the HT Amtico?

Hey! Nice job on the pour! If the screed is super smooth, you might not need to sand it. HT adhesive usually doesn’t need a key, but a primer can help ensure a good bond. Best to check Amtico's guidelines to be sure. Good luck!
