Hygometer readings just keep going up ~1% a day

    Hi everyone,

We had an issue with our LVT blowing due to residual moisture in the floor. The flooring was taken up and we are trying to dry it, but the hygometer just keeps going up and up really slowly. The readings are:

    Day 1 - 67
    Day 2 - 71
    Day 3 - 72
    Day 4 - 74
    Day 5 - 75
    Day 6 - 76
    Day 7 - 75
    Day 8 - 76
    Day 9 - 77
    Day 10 - 78

Appreciate your thoughts on if this is accurate, last time we measured it took over 2 weeks for it to finally stop rising at 82%. People talk about waiting 48-72 hours and then if two readings 4 hours apart are the same then equilibrium has been reached - does that mean we are measuring it wrong?

    Many thanks for any advice.

No it just means the change in weather and humidity is having an effect on it, sounds like it needs pulling up surface dpm and refit.

Thanks for this, the problem is it's anhydrite screed with UFH and so DPM isn't recommended. It's odd though that it just goes up every day by 1%, the weather has just been consistently hot for sometime now. The last set of measurements I took did the same as well

    How deep is the anhydrate?

Its a nightmare to get accurate readings with a hygrometer on anhydrate. Its like a sponge. You may need to get a carbide bomb test

Has the anhydrate had the surface latence ground off it?

We are assuming the UFH is turned off also?
