Ok thank you. So basically they need to remove the screed they have put down. Use ardex dpm. Use a waterproof underlay. And lay it again?
Update: He has been back. I called him out on the screed not being ardex na which he completely denied. He just kept saying there must be a leak despite there being nothing coming from anywhere. I told him what the plan should be based on what you told me. Remove screed, used ardex dpm and then lay waterproof underlay and flooring. He wants to come back next week and cover two small sections of the floor with plastic and leave a few days to test if the moisture comes through when covered. Am I being messed around or does that sound like a normal plan? Your advise again would be greatly appreciated
Wtf. Is he about 70 or 80. That was a way to test in the old old old days. He would need a hydrometer but the fact is that sub floor does not have a damp proof sheet membrane under it. He should have tested it before.
I don’t understand what you mean here? The sub floor being the screed he put down? The screed covers the length of the small galley kitchen but not to each side just to the edge of where the kitchen cupboards come to. I might have completely misunderstood question here. He just hasnt used the right stuff has he but doesn’t want to own up. Not sure where the sheets will get me though. If the plastic stays dry underneath he will then say that’s not the problem. Would moisture create under the plastic quickly if that’s the issue?
I was about to say the same Daz, Sounds like an 'old skooler' or someone who's been bred by an 'old skooler'
But I am right in thinking that’s the whole purpose of the screed to create a levelled surface for the flooring? Because it’s herringbone as well. They had to come back 3 times as it kept popping apart/lifting so that’ll be why but obviously now the whole things been taken up because of the moisture/wet
Update: This is how the screed currently looks. He hasn’t been back to do his old fashioned experiment as yet but I got a moisture monitor myself. I’m going to guess these readings prove a point but they range from 10% up to 18%. I checked monitor on wall etc so know it’s working.
Never heard a reading like that before. What meter is that. Should be RH% reading which needs to be below 75% . Most cases it would be 60% ish
Yeah he won’t get a proper reading with that. But it don’t matter. The sub floor has no Dpm under it so the reading won’t matter as you can get false readings. Choices are use a Dpm underlay under laminate take up screed then do a liquid Dpm and screed.
What daz says....take no sh** and tell him to dust off his leather knee pads and get on with it. Let us know what other excuses he comes up with
