Hi All, What's standard practice when the pros are fitting a carpet? 1. Shoes off when entering and socks only (seems unlikely/irresponsible on health and safety grounds)? 2. Plastic shoe covers on? 3. Change outdoor shoes to indoor only shoes when entering the house? 4. Some other option? I'm sure many or most customers don't want new carpet fitted by installers wearing their outdoor shoes indoors. Especially when raining. Vacuuming after fitting is standard practice but that doesn't cut it with wet/muddy shoes. Thanks.
Don’t think any fitter would fit a carpet with wet / muddy shoes. Mine have indoor trainers then put on inside the house in the winter mainly.
Hey Bob, Most fitters would take their shoes off while fitting new carpets but not always. We would leave our shoes on sometimes if we know our shoes are completely clean and not going to damage the carpet. Providing the carpet has not be damaged then there shouldn't be any problem. If it was raining or muddy outside then it would definitely be common sense to remove footwear. Best regards, Steve www.pro-fitfloorcoverings.co.uk
