Apologies for jumping on this thread but we had our whole house carpeted last year using the Angora Wilton. The underlay used was some thick white recycled underlay which has high insulation properties. Unfortunately the carpet developed ridges over the joins in the underlay, even though it had been stuck down and taped. The carpet shop is replacing all of the underlay with Axfelt which we requested they do after doing some research and to be fair are keen to resolve the issue and protect their reputation. However the carpet still appears to have the lines from the original underlay in places. There are no joins in Axfelt under these areas. Are these lines likely to disappear? We’ve never had these issues previously and there have not been any changes to the floors. Thank you.

They may do, they may not, only time will really tell if they re-settle. personally if we were taking responsibility for such an issue, I think we would end up replacing the carpet as well, an expensive issue to have to rectify.

Well I’m back again! Our hall carpet (which is going to be replaced) has been relaid on the Axfelt and it appears to be taking on the shape of the ducting that houses all of the heating pipes! I’m now seriously thinking of getting it all ripped out and replaced but logic tells me we could end up with the same issues. The old carpets which were 100% wool were all laid on Tredaire of some description - can any fitters experienced with the Ulster Wilton advise if they have seen these issues and advise of any alternatives. We went with the Ulster as they colour matched everything which other manufacturers couldn’t guarantee. The colour is very light - would a darker carpet help hide the issues? Thank you.

Is the ducting flush to the rest of the floor. You could need some plywood or latex screeding to sort the levels out.
