Hi guys Has anyone else noticed the flooring industry is really quite? Have you guys notice it? I've had calls off loads of fitters looking for work which indicates something going on. Any ideas?
Yes, after a ridiculously busy run to Christmas, we now have very little. I do have jobs coming up, but have guys sitting at home right now. My take is a recession is looming and some hard times will be ahead.
Not sure were your based but up in the north east shops appear to be employing fitters rather than using sub contractors these days. Heard loads of fitters looking for work up here. if the day ever came were I had no work self employed, I’d probably pack flooring in. Wouldn’t fancy being on the books. The fitters on the books around here seem to be over worked and under payed.
South East for me, but we do travel country wide for commercial projects. I believe we are able to jump on some new build shortly, but at the moment its really quiet. I actually like it myself, but feel for my lads. Will check out some more leads when I get back from holiday, but it looks grimm.
It started quiet but has ramped up massively in the last 10 days. Going to be looking for some fitters soon at this rate.
Im a subby in the south east, main carpet fitter where i work, october and november were slow ,december was dead, jan has been decent so far. However the other fitters behind me, some of them had absolutely nothing. Rough trade
