Hi we had expensive carpet put down on stairs landing and up to loft room stairs and loft room

quite a lot and not cheap

    Good local company

noticed ridges abd loose carpet on stairs after 12 months. Got around to asking the vendor at 25 months. Fitter came out said it was dangerous , loose sbd not fitted correctly . Bad job he said

So vendor says they can’t refit it even though I have spare carpet as it will mean lifting each stair piece which will damage it at the edges - so needs replacing . They will cover the stairs replacement but not the landing as it’s beyond a two year limit on refitting . Basically it needs to be a full new carpet as it’s been discontinued and we will have to pay for the landing (at cost ) the vendor pays the fitting all round

imnot clear on whether they have a duty to replace the lot at their expense as it’s all one piece . Any advice appreciated

    What’s the reason it’s a bad job ?

That’s way above and beyond what most others would do to be fair considering it’s outside the scope of installation warranty which is almost universally 12 months, and selling the landing at cost this is a significant loss for the retailer say please and thank you and make sure these hopefully good fitters get a nice cuppa.

No worries, make sure to leave a glowing review for them if it’s a good job after but don’t mention how much they have done on this replacement or everyone will expect the same just treat it as the original job.
