Hello everyone Just here to read up and learn how to lay engineered wood flooring myself. Took on a full house renovation as my first home in Manchester. Two and a half years into it now, messed about by the builders and left with an extension which failed regs (of course I had paid them before the inspection, my fault ). Had loads of different trades in and out and I've had enough to the point where I'm either doing the remaining work myself or doing a Liam Neeson and going down for GBH haha. All subfoors have been replaced throughout the house with 22mm chipboard, laid all the wet underfloor heating pipes on ground/1st/loft room myself and have purchased engineered wood flooring for the full house (all 146 square meters!) I'm sure I'll have questions at some stage but first I'm going to swot up using the search function for prepping the subfloor and whether I should glue/nail and all that jazz. Thanks D
You could float the wood with a UFH underlay or you would need to plywood it if glueing down. Don’t nail it into chipboard.
Thanks Daz, the loft room I will most likely float on an underlay as the apex is just at 2m without flooring fitted . The first floor I will most likely have to ply the chipboard has been up once more as the plumbing first fix went wrong, ply will probably be best to give me a nice uniform base. Is the ply OK to be nailed in place and then glue the flooring onto the plywood? I need to get a decent adhesive, any recommendations for 14mm engineering over wet ufh system? Thanks
Theres loads out there, best to check with manufacturer using the board width and length but some we use: Wakol ms230 or ms260 Fball b95 Rewmar ms all suitable for stick down engineered over ufh
