how many times have you turned up at the job and the customer says ,can you JUSTfix the floorboards down, and that one sqeaks can you fix that too?
LOL, i had a job a few weeks ago. I said we will be putting plywood down over your floor to smooth it out. I arrived and the customer had uplifted all the floorboards thinking i was putting the plywood over the joists!
Idont mind screwing hte odd floorboard down, but only if it,s completely loose so you can see the pipes/wires
Had one yesterday on a HSL.Also fitted stairs by lifting the stair lift at one end and fit half the carpet the vice versa.Took ages but got a ton extra, the stairlift guys wanted two ton.
yeh i forgot about bloming stair lifts , they are a pain,but like you say they can be unscrewed and if you can save the customer money and make some more yourself with some brownie points everyones happy
A friend had to move one years ago, but he toally removed it, put it in the garden and fitted the hsl, the only problem, it rained, compleatly knacked the lift, cost him thousands, im sorry, but i wont move them full stop, but each to there own.
The customer told me after we finished the job that she has had loads of problems with it recently(stairlift).If i had known before the job i would have stayed well clear.There are a few flimsy bits on em that you dont see at first.Good for the biceps though lol.
i know a couple of lads that after they screwed the stair lift back in place they had it on the skew. On its first journey back up the stairs it ended up hitting the wall and taking the wall paper off and digging a great hole in the wall before it came to a stop!
Never again they do look sturdy but you worry that it will work afterwards.Sorry chaps i have changed the subject from screwing down floorboards.
