Hi guys just been looking at some of the great work in the picture section. A quick query I have, is do you guys supply Karndan/Amtico etc your selves. Reason I ask is that currently the only LVTs I am able to supply are polyflors. I've been in business 12 years, have good trade references and have business premisis. i would love to do more of that kind off work but feel a bit 'hampered' . cheers Ray
yes, myself and tucker both have a retail shop kitted out with karndean stands etc. Karndean can be a pain to open an account with tho.
Thanks, I have never approached Karndean, I always assumed that it would be difficult to open an account with them. As I work from an industrial unit rather than a retail premisis it would be a no-go ! Regards Ray
Hi, have you heard of Mflor I can get you samples and training and get you set up to sell their ranges should you wish. They are looking to get more domestic work. If you are interested just PM me and I shall sort you out. regards Rugrat
Ray i buy karndean from my local flooring wholesaler ie not headlam. I pay "chic unique" prices, perhaps matt or rugrat can say whether these are competitive prices or not. Personally though i've stopped pushing karndean as people can buy it themselves off the internet and either want me to just fit it or use it as a bargaining tool to get my price down. So i'm considering my options at the mo, maybe Camaro or something like that?
I like Camaro and all the other polyflor stuff I have used, there just seems to be no encouragement from my wholesalers to provide samples for borders etc. I usually have to go direct to Polyflor for samples
Karndean are no better. I can only get those crappy little samples of the tiles and again no border samples at all. But if rugrat can sort you out proper samples then no worries. Still doesn't solve the problem of the customer buying it themselves though.
I tell people that they have no guarranty if we dont supply it. Also you run the risk of odd batches etc. If ever there was a problem with th eproduct do you think there is anyway that the "internet shop" are going to come out and inspect the flooring along with submiting a claim to karndean. However i do think karndean should put a minimum price it should be sold at. The reps are a pain in the arse also. Tucker sold a pallet of the stuff and the rep went out to the site and told the customer how much tucker was paying for it! How stupid.
That's a good point matt and something i'll remember for next time. If i'm paying chic unique prices am i doing ok do you think?
Evening Carpetman, Just joined this forum i have a Karndean design showroom in Fife . Karndean has a new rep for Scotland Alan Mathieson give him a call can do no harm, call Karndean head office for his number, they don't like fitters selling from vans(neither do i who has to pay for premises and rates) if you have a unit it might be ok
have you all tried creation wood by gerfloor i fitted some for the first time just before xmas they were nice to fit and from what the customer said they were a very good price also they have a long list of adhesives that they reccomend so you have a much better choice
Why is it difficult Matt? is it beacause you have to have experience in this type of flooring, with subfloor prep etc? and they don,t want to sell to anyone?
No thje reps are crap. They never turn up. It took tucker about 1 year to get a rep to come out and see him to open an account. However we did go through about 4 reps in 2 years in birmingham. Even with tucker complaining direct at the harrogate floor show they still never turned up.
Maybe its not en-vogue as it used to be with things as they are in the trade at the moment and as you have mentioned there are other products that are cheaper.Maybe CREATION wood should run installing courses as well but not for £600.00 or so quid.
