rather than work abroad i have taken the plunge and have just aquired premises its a retail unit in a industrial estate its right on the main road where hundreads of cars pass a day how much roll stock would you advise to keep would you just stock samples etc and has anyone any good contacts for rolls of carpet bearing in mind im based near aberdeen thanks again
i would keep only a few rolles of carpet of some cheap twist etc. I would pack the rest of the place out with samples but try and keep with companys that deliver quick or a wholsaler that you can pick up off the same day etc. Guess it depends alot on if you want to be known as a cheap and pick up today place or somewhere selling a bit of quality that you need to wait for?
i suppose a bit of both lol got a idea of what customers want roll wise with working for various shops etc do you know any decent wholsalers mate
not your way mate, plus the "decent" bit makes it even harder lol I would also ask a rep to see the stats on there best selling carpets and stock them, dont take there word for it as they may have to shift 10 rolls of crap that they will get a bonus for selling. However i would keep a range of all types of samples. Is this unit glass frounted or a proper unit with roller shutter door? It can been seen from the road?
Hi Mark, Have you tried Flanagans ? 2 vans to our area a week and competitive pricing. You know all about Headlam & MCD I presume, Oh and your local friendly wholesaler Thems the only ones I know in our neck of the woods, unless you go for direct accounts of course. Cheers Ray
Im in a similar position to Mark, I work from a small industrial unit, no space for roll stock but i have hundreds of pattern books. do you know of any suppliers who would offer a direct account to someone in my position ? Cheers Ray
