hi, how many of you do carpet boarders? do you ever make your own boarders? Like a tramline boarder maybe?
Boarder work must be the best part of carpet fitting, creating in effect a unique carpet and all the satisfaction that goes with that. being able to plan out and balance the body and boarder of the carpet in a complicated room must be the sign of a master fitter.
Boarders are expensive. Have you ever made your own? Simple stuff like adding a tramline in another colour? works out alot cheaper than buying in boarder carpet. Maybe offer this to your customers? Im going to do my HSL when extension is finished. i will get some pics up of making a tramline boarder etc.
I have to admit that i've never done it in my life so it would scare me to death if a job came up! Nearest thing to it was fitting a 27" wide carpet in a hotel round a dance floor and following through down the landings and stairs, enough heat seaming on that job to last a lifetime! Twas in the days before digital cameras so never took any pics mores the pity.
It is easy mate! However you need to be shown how first off. Maybe when i post some pics up of a "how to" you will see that you can do it also!
Did a lot of borders in my early years. Haven't done any for a long time. Out of style here in the states.
