have just done 60m2 quickstep perspective laid on the 45 degrees on cleaning and washing the floor before i left i noticed a damaged board right in the miidle of the room it looks like somethings been dropped on it its quite deep i tried filling up with black silicone as floor is black its took most of it out but not completely now if the customer sees this is there an easy way of lifting out THAT plank and replacing as i have just fixed all skirtings on etc any help would be much appreciated thanks mark
Wait till the customer sees it.You can always dispute who is to blame for the "said" mark on the floor.Otherwise you could be honest and own up but it means uplifting part of the floor.Maybe the client wont bother at all.Who knows! sometimes when you have finished a job and left you dont hear from them again. So you might never know whether you have done a good job for past customers or not.I fitted a cheap 6m laminate today from Homebase i cant believe that i go against my principles of better nature and insist that the "i will never fit crap laminate ever again",BUT I DID!.It chipped in lots of places said the customer (who supplied it) oh i got it cheap dont worry i am renting it out so it doesnt matter just get it down.Nuff said.
well ive to go back tommorow to fit karndean in bathrooms id rather just replace it as i like my work top notch there must b a way to replace that 1 board without lifting whole floor i remember seeing a tool from quickstep that lifts that row and you can replace that board without taking off skirtings etc
Getting the plank out should be easy but getting a fresh one back in sounds a challenge.Maybe slide out the least side to the bad plank and slide the new ones in place. You might have to somehow clamp it back to fit.Otherwise like you said it has to be top notch then its possibly a part uplift. At best at least you dont have to cut anything, just plonk in afterwards.Things happen at times.
It can be done if you "tent" the replacement board sand/plane the "locking part" of the tongues on the end and side and glue them in with weights on top.I've had to do this before,an extra pair of hands would be an idea toh and you will need to be able to swear in about 4 different languages, coz it's really fiddly, heh heh. joemar
Which ever way you do it its a basta#d to do! a lot of guys round here just carry the fillers, but i have to say a filled floor looks shite!
