What heat seamers do you lads use, flat base , grooved base, or do you use other methods like a silva seamer or even sewing.

I would never use spray adhesive to seam a carpet..... unless I ran out of 25mm ring shanks.

Tedmaced your the one who has a go at turning everything into a joke!!!!!!!!!!

But groved based irons are the main seller. silver seam just to expensive unless you are working in a warehouse seaming up bits to make carpet in designes. Stonegate carpets in Leeds have two fitters do this all the time all day..

lol, Rugrat i was being sarcastic... I have a big silva seamer with wheels, bloody heavy, cost £50 secondhand with 3 rolls of tape, and i have a smaller one my mate gave me the other week, i sorted the wires out and gave it a re-spray and its as good as new, i was also given 2 rolls of tape!

The cost of tape is one of the main reasons its never became popular. I know the lads that make the system. New one come at £690 plus vat and the tape gets expensive.

LOL, ye the KoolGlide, i set fire to a carpet with one of them doing a demo and testing it a few years back when they first appeared.

Basically make sure you dont have something metal under the join or you get instant fire! (not that you should be going over something metal)

I got mine from SHAG TOOLS ( what a great name ) in the USA over the internet. Then just bought a cheap transformer so it can run on UK leckey. There was a demo of them at last years Harrogate Floor Show and it think it was Stikatak that were trying to get the rights to distribute them in the UK
