I always find myself looking at the flooring when i go out to a pub etc and im always shocked at the poor fitting!

However, tonight i found a place (social sports club) that the carpet actually run straight! also the carpet pattern had been matched through the door ways. The overal job was to a high standard. Still a few silly faults i could pick up on if i wanted to be fussy! so it was not perfect. But its the first place i have been to in a long time that the fitters had done a good job.

do you lot find yourselfs inspecting others work also?

YES! it's become a running joke with family and friends. wavy patterns.off square, bad joins. as soon as i walk into a so called classy joint i'am eyeing up the floor, its even happening with T.V. programs, for instance Eastenders (A program i never watch) your man (bradley,s father, i think) has a flure de le pattern on the stairs, well its fitted sideways, well unless some makes a pattern like that but i've never seen one.

lol, ye some of the carpet fitting on t.v is shocking. There are a few programmes on t.v that the stair carpet is running the wrong way etc.

We always look at the floor - but mainly of course when it is wooden flooring.

In interior design, diy, house hunting or renovation programs we will always remark on the floor too: that's pine, that's "Master-choice" (rubbish short lengths "Solid Offers"), that looks like a Duoplank or that's a lovely herringbone ;-)

Im sure you have watched the programes on t.v where they lay a new concrete slabe and then 2 days later the solid wood floor is being fitted! LOL

And of course- 60 minute make over! Wooden floors installed while all the workmen are painting etc all in 60 minutes! I spend longer on my site inspection and taking moister readings etc lol

However, we all know that its a few days and not really done in 60 minutes. :?

And then there is DIY-sos! A few years ago they asked for our "assistance" when they planned a job in our area, read what happened here (why we didn't do the job)
    Idiots! ;-)

Ive got to agree, The old Carpetworld store (now Carpetright) in Hazel Grove near Stockport used to supply Granada TV studios with carpets for all the shows including Coronation St, the stairs were always the wrong way, a linear metre taken off the width due to cost. Oh and yes me too, always checkout the flooring in peoples/familys houses, lol, and yes ive uplifted a corner of shag pile in the good ol US of A just for a quick look at the prep, which was shite i might add, lol
