The trimming plate for your spatula? I use it when i fit Polysafe Hydro,so it misses the nobbles! but i have seen fitters use it on normal vinyl. Whats the reason for this? Hippyfitter
it holds the spatula at the correct hight for trimming so you dont take a chunk out the vinyl/lino or dont cut the weld to high. Some people (guess yourself) can cut the weld perfect in one go freehand, others need the guide to help them!
Thought it was lol, never felt the need to use it,but when i have it seems to leave the weld slightly high, but i guess that's cos i don't use it alot!
My missus agrees with you that i do not use it a lot.But the "bit part" about standing proud, she do not agree with!.
I always use the guide when trimming lino weld - 1st pass with the guide then a 2nd pass without, gives a perfect finish. If i try doing it in one pass without the guide bad things happen. I'm pretty sure this is the way forbo recommend you do it or at least they used to. I do this for rubber as well. For all other safety and smooth vinyls it's just the one pass without the guide.
