After reading a topic on a lesser known forum (from the otherside),there seems to be issues regarding how far 1 unit of screed will go per m2.The textbook formula is 3mm to 1 bag/bottle equals 5m2.But there can be a problem if the thickness goes below this, meaning there is going to be a weakness between a subfloor and the floorcovering to be laid on to it.Also if the mix isnt correct then that can become a problem with certain stickdowns etc.If a fitter/installer tries to get a wider area per unit then that thickness becomes apparently less and more so if the subfloor isnt flat to begin with.

We apply only 2 mm to smooth the floor and we get 8,8 m out of a bag. i've even seen guys get 16 m out of a bag.

once asked to screed over tiles and shop was supplying screed, 5mx3m and they couldn't understand why i said i needed 4 or poss 5 bags,i explained that the grouting lines were deeper and that some tiles were higher than others (not by much granted but over that size 2-3mm would not be uncommon) they couldn't understand why i would need that much.. got someone else to do it guess what? the customer wouldn't accept the job, some tiles showing through, it had to be redone (client was an architect), wanted compo cause his kitchen was out of commission for so long.

I would risk 2mm thick if it was to loose lay a vinyl or put a carpet down but it would depend only after inspection.
