Bathroom fixture have been taken out with a view to instal a floorcovering that will be water tight. Intention is to get the floor covered with some kind of vinyl material (on the floor with upstands at the wall) and then fit bath and other fittings. Reason for this is so that any water that sprays onto the floor off the high power shower, does not go through the floor to flat below.

I had thought of tiled floor, but the floor contruction is straps of wood atop concrete beams and then T&G chipboard to top. The center of the floor deflects when walked on, hence tiles will crack (mindful that there would be plywood overlay for tiles).

Can someone give me advice on what to do and who in Glasgow would be able to carry out the work.

    Hi Danny and welcome.

How wet is the floor likely to get? The vinyl you're talking about is cap & cove edged which is usually for where there is an high possibility of water ingress like in commercial and wet floor areas. Usually for this a vinyl sealed with silicon round the edge would be adequate (and cheaper).

    Thank you for replying sandyfloor.

At present daughter is living in the flat but flat is likely to be rented at some future date. With hot and cold water off the mains and unvented cylinder, floor will likely have some water due to the high pressure off the spary head. With some tenants it is imperetive to be extra cautious, so the reason for prefitting of floor covering before the suite is fitted. Went to B&Q- they have ordinay vinyl which will perforate/ damage very easily leading to water ingress between floor covering and chipboard leading to a much worst scenaio.

Can you speculate a guide price for a floorcovering that would satisfy my spec ?

Welcome to the forum Danny, there are some good quality vinyls on the market( better than the range at B&Q)which you can buy at your local flooring store. I wouldn,t recommend Carpetright though!! If you give your location i,m sure one of the lads on here will give you a price. I hope that helps ,Alan
