Ive got to put some sort of sound proofing under a carpet, dous any1 know of a good accoustic underlay? I used one once that was like two sheets of black rubber with foam in between but the customer supplied himself? any ideas?
yes , i,ve used that mate, again the customer supplied it, it,s called accoustalay it is 1 mtr sq slabs. I think it is about £50 mtr2.
Really I didnt know it was that much I thought that was the name but I cant find it online? there is accoustilay website but it doesnt look the same to me? I dont want to order something online if its not the right one
we had to use it on new build flats, for them it was a cheaper option than boards. cant remeber what it was called but it looked like a cork pattern but it was rubber, get this, we had to lay vinyl on top of it (stick down) but it looked proper crap.
Daz was talking about this stuff Regupol. Don't know much more about it though. http://www.inspirednoise.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/ECO-Acoustic-Underlayment.pdf
I have a sample of that on my van. Go on that website above, he can sort you out. The regepol is for only impact sound. That one with foam in middle is impact & airborne sound.
Turned up at few jobs for a shop before with this stuff already layed down (same builder). about an inch thick? sandwich hard rubber/foam/hard rubber? I refused to lay carpet on it as I new it would look pants. I had a serperate underlay (ball & Youngs Grand Reserve), the builder refused to remove it, we ended up compromising he laid battens around the perimiter for grippers and the same on the stair treads it was horrendous.
gripper; the stuff your talking about is ment to have battons the same thickness to enable you to fix the gripper to the correct height. i have used this once (owner supplied) in a nursery, by the time underlay and carpet went in you could use it as a judo mat. felt sorry for the poor kid must've be bawling it brains out before any one heard it
