Just bought one of these a must for anyone thats doing that horrible yukkie Sissal/Seagrass stuff. Check out the link its a Bosch XEO Cordless Lithium-Ion Universal Cutter works like a dream on sissal and sea grass its quick neat leaves no fraying edges and fantastic for cutting down your runs for the stairs. For fitting crease sissal or sea grass tight into skirting/gripper, then make a small incision slot in the cutter lay it on its side and fire it up it will cut all the way along the skirting leaving you exactly 10mm of clean and neatly cut edge to just tuck down its perfect for this stuff.http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000VWTD...de=asn&creative=22206&creativeASIN=B000VWTD3C

Looks a great tool Jay, but is there any fear of damaging the skirting?

No, they have a guard that runs behind the blade.

i tried one of these a few years ago for fitting naturals. I never liked it.

Guess its going to be one of them you tools you like or hate. A marmite tool :D

I found it great although thinking about it if you are left handed its gonna give you a problem as it seems to be more aimed at right handed opperation than left. Like Matt says though you'll either love it or hate it no marking of the skirting and a snip at £20.

Ha, I hate that stuff, Ive only ever cutt it with one of those tools you posted Jay but I would of thought they would have a proper tool made just for fitting the stuff? They love it in the states I wonder if they have any tools for it?

Yes they are. The original one of them i tried was actually for cutting off the roll. The one i tried was a lot more money than the one JAY has brought tho, i borrowed the tool to see i f i liked before i buy. I might buy one for £20 and give it another go.

have had one of the tools for a few years now thought it was great for roughing in esp on stringy berbers, fold over use the body of the machine as a guide against the skirting and hey presto 1 1/2 inches up the skirting for the trimmer to take of. misplaced the charger never missed it.  .must see if i can find it give it another go, never know might fall in love all over again. the punters though it was great "hey yous boys has all ta toools" (must be said in a south antrim accent)

I have looked at these but was not sure how long the blade would last in use with carpet.
I belive they were developed for the cloth trade.

They do a professional version of the original now 10.8v , if it works would be great cutting in , it's a case of if it cuts enough off I suppose when it tilted side ways
