    There my order-

    1. The german one, Very good, used half on the creation floor yesterday, it cut the whole kitchen in and half the hall.
Used other half on lg floor ( 0.7mm wear layer) today which is very tough an it did well.Tips did not break.
Will be buying these. Are they in stock?

    2. Sheffield with coating, half on regupol which is the sound barrier gear. Did good.
other half on lg today which was ok but tips got blunt quite quick.

    3. Tungsten, Karndean knight tile bathroom, cut it all in. Did good
other half lg where the tip broke after about 8 cuts.

    4. sheffield plain - used on creation wood, tip broke after 2 cuts and other half on the regupol which did ok but got blunt quick. To me very like if not the same as sweeney todd blades

All of them can cut basic karndean in and vinyl tiles but as I need the tip not to break on most spacia, amtico etc

when the blades arrived i did a paper cut test the TiN (gold edge) coated faired the worst showing that it wasn't the sharpest edge, the german blade did the best.
on site (full house all the same carpet)this pretty much held up, i found the german blade was the sharpest and best to cut in a join, the gold edged blade seemed to require more effort to cut with (ok for roughing out and ripping up a length).the tungsten blade was sharpe enough and held its edge the best even cutting though a crappey pu underlay without (much) tearing after use on a carpet. the sheffield blade was good enough but did'n find it much diffrent from the morley's heavy duty blades i would normally use.
I use a trimmer for fitting so the blades were used for the detailed work , roughing in, cutting in joins and stairs.
    in conclusion
in my (humble) opinon :ugeek: :ugeek:
1 tungsten best overall blade..... sharpe, strong blade, held it edge longer
2 german blade...........fine blade, very sharpe, good for cutting joins, could do with being longer esp for cutting the crouch of stairs
    in particulair winders
3 sheffield blade ...... a reasonable all rounder
4 TiN coated blade...... a bit dispointing, not the sharpest.

the above is my experence with the blades and i'am sure others will hold diffrent opions as fitters cut so many diffrent way's (like hand writting). I wanted the TiN coated blade to do well as customers are always asking "do you use spiecal blades" and to show the some thing diffrent would have been cool, but alas their not being added to my tool box. :(

To Everyone thats taken part in this small test thank you. Your veiws are a real help. We want a premium blade that will be worth the extra and as one person put it the coated blade looks great and would be impressive from that point, but it has to be impressive to work with, because thats were it counts.

You have all seemed to come to the same conclusion. That the one blade made here in the UK for the German market with the higher carbon content in the steel used, seems to be the better blade.

1...Now that blade is only a 50mm blade not the 60mm standard size. Would this bother you?
2...Ted has told me this blade did not fit well in his dolphin 2000, but was fine in his standard dolphin, did any one use anything else?
3...The coated blade (Which would be expensive) Did anyone find this better in any particular type of flooring?
4...Am I right inconcluding that the tungstan blade had no real advantage over normal steel blades.

Next time any of you order online please put you online name on. I have somthing else that needs trying but its to heavy to post.
    Thanks Rugrat www.carpetfittersshoponline.co.uk

Hi Rugrat the smaller blade wouldn,t bother me too much as i can use it it the normal dolphin.I did find it a nice blade as withe the gold edge one as i said earlier. The tungsten blade didn,t do much for me, but maybe more useful for hardflooring?, which i don,t do so maybe the other lads could judge more on this. The other blade seemed to be just a cheap one ,and having used that sort before, they seem second hand when they are supposed to be new, i hope this helps , cheers Alan

with what i said about the german blade being short, i did notice that it had 3 slots so one could use the last slot effectively extending the blade, therfore cancelling my point about cutting into the croch on winders.....

i often debate with myself

Hi dazlight its not on stock at this time, but this exersize is to find a premium blade which can offer something more, so from what you have all said then I think it will be brought on stock shortly.
I will let you all know first.
