I have one and they do work a treat especially for those head scratching cuts, although it don't come out that often I still prefer the old pencil and paper template never fails me tried and tested over time since the dawn of Lino, plus that device as good as it is its £109 and how much is a pencil and a roll of patern paper. Call me old fashioned but the old ways still rock. I wonder how many here can template or even know how to.
templated all the time for the old lino yrs ago As daz said, i too still template awkward little halls for plying out etc
I template still for everything thats awkward, I mean why struggle pulling out a piece of vinyl when you can just template it quicker and eliminate tearing and creasing. One of my favourites is if I have a carpet on a landing which is an awkward shape like a U or whatever, I put the gripper down then the underlay tape it all together then roll it up and take it out to the carpet lay the underlay out ontop of the carpet and then allowing around an extra 3 inches cut it all out works a treat why struggle when life could be made so much easier. I even template level access showers sometimes.
I have one and it wasn't cheap. Where I think it's good is cutting round pans in tight spaces. In spots where there's nothing square to measure off. You fix the two together and you get a lot of the curvature. Also good for larger radii like shower trays Would I buy one again? ....probably not.
Well everyone that came to the open day last week does Anyway, back on subject. I have one of them tools and i dont really rate it. I prefer to template like Jay suggests Customers always look impressed tho when you pull it out.
Daz I have one of these and don't reckon much to it - maybe just me but can't get it accurate enough. If you want to try one I'll post you mine... Templating....... yeah templating.........that's the answer - I always template - just never did it right.............until last Friday
Thanks for the offer John but i'm ok mate, not right thing i'm looking for really. I more want to see this bendy straight curve edge thing :?
i bought one for about £20. i think its only ever been out about twice. dont waste you money you can do the same with a tile or plank
Now it's been thoroughly slagged off (including myself) I'm going to make an effort to use it more just to see if it's just a case of being reluctant to change my habits.
It would be a good idea to have a profiler for all differing pots alike to the Carpetrite alternative names in ranges.
